Popeye Village

A short drive from the popular beach at Mellieha brings you to a unique movie attraction: the main set from Robert Altman’s 1980 comedy-musical Popeye, starring Robin Williams as the spinach-loving sailor, preserved as it appears on screen. You can walk around the artificial fishing village of Sweethaven, a collection of ramshackle wooden homes and shops perched on the cliffside of Anchor Bay and originally built with thousands of planks, eight tonnes of nails and 2,000 gallons of paint.
